You Snore? Here’s WHY You Snore

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008
by Harold Ulvaeus

Snoring is something we joke about but we soon stop thinking it is a laughing matter if the person WE share our bedroom with is a snorer.

The snoring can be soft and short in duration which makes it a small problem, but when it is quite loud, lasting for large parts of the night it can be seriously disruptive. Being continually awakened through the night can have not only both emotional and mental effects by physiological effects as well.

There are many devices, methods and contraptions on the market attempting to help the snorer. Some of them work, some do not work at all.One of the reasons for the lesser success rate is that people snore for a variety of reasons and you need a device or method that deals with the CAUSE of the snoring.

Strapping your chin to keep your mouth shut, or sleeping on a special pillow, or forcing you to sleep on your side may bring some temporary relief, but as soon as that chin strap comes off, you are snoring again.

Natural methods such as yoga, changing sleeping position, breathing exercises, not consuming alcohol prior to bed can all help to some extent, but they too are not cause oriented.

The important thing for long term success, for nights of quiet and deep sleep is to address the CAUSE. The most common causes for snoring are all related to the tissues and muscles around your airways. A weak soft palate, a tongue lolling back into the throat, stuffy nose, tight muscles around the jaw, are some of the most common causes for you to snore.

What to do about these causes? A few minutes per day doing easy and very specific exercises can tone and firm your tissues and before you know it, you and those sleeping within earshot of you will enjoy peaceful snore free nights.

Cosmetic plastic surgery good or bad?

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008
by Keith BL Mallinson

Cosmetic or Plastic surgery is a branch of medicine focusing on enhancing an individual’s appearance using a combination of surgical and medical procedures. The reason the majority of people decide on some form of cosmetic adjustment is their dissatisfaction with their appearance and believe this procedure will not only improve their looks but also increase their confidence. To avoid a disappointing result you would be wise to carefully examine your reasons for proceeding with cosmetic surgery.

It is possible that the reason many people who have had cosmetic procedures do not die as young as those who have not is the self esteem factor of looking and feeling younger than they really are. Before you proceed with the cosmetic treatment, make sure you are confident about the abilities of the surgeon. Once you are happy about the qualifications of your plastic surgeon, it will be necessary for you to speak to him and see if cosmetic surgery is the right way forward.

The number of procedures carried out each year on individuals that are not happy about one or more aspects of their appearance would now seem to be the accepted way to deal with it. Plastic surgery includes two broad fields, namely cosmetic (or aesthetic) and reconstructive surgery which focuses on concealing the destructive effects of trauma, disease or accident. Nowadays, cosmetic surgery is not just for women but has invaded the male population as well.

For a person who has discomfort both physically and psychologically owing to their body shape, multiple cosmetic procedures can often mean an improvement in their self confidence in addition to their physical comfort. It is now possible to pretty much change your whole body shape with multiple cosmetic procedures.

Surgical scarring used to be a problem but technology has improved so much that it is possible to have surgery without any detectable signs. While cosmetic surgeons are artists in a scientific field, they are not magicians and the end result may be vary dramatically from the patient’s appearance before the procedure. When a great deal of cosmetic work has been done, they may be a considerable period of recovery. Therefore the care you receive after the surgery is as important as the surgery itself if a satisfactory result is expected.

As with any surgical procedure, risks are there and factors like a patients medical history and age can have a bearing on the treatment plus the result you finally end up with may be slightly different from what you hoped or expected. Post-operative infection is quite rare, less than 1% and it is routine to administer antibiotics to reduce this risk.

Movie stars were one the only people able to afford cosmetic surgery, fortunately that is no longer the case. In this modern era, cosmetic surgery patients want to get optimal results from cosmetic surgery without having to fork out the insane amount that cosmetic surgery used to cost some decades back.

Due to the fact that the market has become tremendously littered with tons of acne care products, it can be very difficult for an individual to choose one. When you hear one friend recommend a product that another person has told you to avoid, how can you decide which one to go with?

The most important thing to keep in mind is that no two people are the same. Since each individual has different skin and skin problems, there is on one acne product that will work for everyone in exactly the same way. Panic Attack Outbursts And The Best Treatment For Panic Disorder

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008
by George Ferguson

I have been informed of my tendency to handle things in a less than traditional manner on simply too many occasions. It has gotten to the point that even I am confused by my problem solving techniques. Even though my way of getting my point across may seem too strong or harsh, it gets the job done, and that makes it right.

Panic disorder, a serious mental disorder, is a condition that many people would like to know how to treat in the most effective way. Panic disorder refers to a state of mind and is caused by an individual’s upbringing.

Panic disorder can usually be traced back to parents, as they tend to be the ultimate cause of all of a person’s problems and frustrations. Parents are supposed to teach their children how to handle difficult situations; how to get through a hard time without breaking down into tears and confusion.

Panic attacks are most often induced, not because a person does not know what the right course of action is, but because they cannot see what situation they will be in after they act. If you suffer from panic disorder, consider the reality. Every decision requires that you make a choice, and that choice could be right or wrong, good or bad. Allowing your emotions to block out your ability to make a well thought out decision will only make things harder for you, keeping you from a good solution to panic disorder.

How to Handle It When You Cannot Find a Good Way to Treat Panic Disorder

For people who suffer from panic attacks and panic disorder, getting help is rarely an easy thing. Getting desperate to find a solution, though, can make you start searching for one. The problem, however, lies in the psychology that starts the process.

It only makes sense that people with panic disorder would want to find a way to treat it. It is important for an individual who suffers from panic attacks to remember that there is always a solution to any problem that you find yourself confronting. You can get your life back by means of an anxiety panic disorder treatment.

You have the ability to choose to continue living like that or not. The only true way of treating this is by identifying and justifying the problem and council helps too.

How to Burn Fat and Gain Muscle At the Same Time?

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008
by Abi Shaan

You are hypnotized with hundreds of ads on TV regularly with products like machines and supplements claiming to burn fat and build muscle in a matter of just minutes a day. Some of these products do work. If you are intelligent enough, you should know these stuff don’t work. Some are just plain junk and you will know it right away you look at it, but there are times you might end up purchasing the product just to find out it’s a pile of crap.

Of course there are some that DO work, but they are short cuts that don’t give permanent results. Most of the products come up with a single routine to follow forever. Your body adapts to any routine within 4 weeks. Don’t you wonder why you suddenly get stuck when trying to burn fat and build muscle?

It is simple logic that muscle burns fat. Have you seen muscular people getting fat easily? If you build more muscle, your body will use the fat as energy and everything else to help sustain the muscle and increase muscle growth. So why focus on cardio and aerobics when you can focus on building muscle that will automatically help burn the fat?

1. Always go for exercises that target major muscles like the Back, Legs, Chest. Doing exercises for these muscles work all the other muscle fibers at the same time. This gives greater growth for the less but highly intense effort! Deadlifts are more intense than doing leg presses.

2. Focus on achieving a new personal record in every workout. Try to increase weight, get more reps or sets in the same time or LESS time in every workout. This increases intensity and muscular shock.

3. If you want to BURN FAT and build muscle, then you can’t just keep everything at sight. Building muscle doesn’t give you permission to go dirty on food. You need to eat clean. Stick to organic food, whole grain carbs and lean protein and you are good to go.

4. Get rest. This might come as a shocked to you but rest is necessary to build muscle. You don’t build muscle during the workout. It happens during the time you give you rest for your muscles to complete repairs. Take a week off every 8 to 10 weeks for optimum results.

5. Stick to bodyweight exercises and free weights. They are 1000 times better than machines. As long as you aren’t doing ab exercises like the Kneeling Cable Crunch, you should always stick with bodyweight exercises and free weights to get optimal results.

If you follow these 5 simple steps, you will be away ahead of the rest of the crowd who work their butts off in the gym trying to get in better shape. You will turn heads in a few weeks if you follow the steps recommended to burn fat and build muscle accordingly.

Is A Fat Burning Diet The Fastest Way To Lose Weight?

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008
by Stephen Bartlay

“That’s it. I’ve had enough. I’m going to diet and finally get rid of these pounds!”

Have these words or something similar ever passed your lips before?

Along with these words, most of us also have an expectation or desire that we may or may not actually acknowledge. That is the desire for immediacy . . . we want the weight gone now!

Before we take a closer look at this, I want you to know that I understand. I’ve been there myself. We are a nation of “zero tolerance” people when it comes to patience. Our society moves fast and we expect fast results – that’s just how it is.

Usually when we start considering how to lose weight fast, the tactic that comes first to mind is eating a calorie reduced diet.

From a simplistic perspective, this line of reasoning is bang on. Losing body fat is a matter of eating fewer calories than whatever number of calories we are currently eating that maintains the weight we have.

This method of how to lose weight is not the issue. The issue is about how aggressively we try to do this. When we approach the quick weight loss diet in a very aggressive manner, the body believes it is in mortal danger and takes steps to protect itself.

As self-aware, thinking creatures, we find times when our view of what is important differs from that of Mother Nature. When the topic is about survival, this fact can become one of serious concern.

Take for example hypothermia. This is a condition where the body’s temperature becomes abnormally low; as when ill dressed for harsh winter weather for example.

In an attempt to weather out the threatening hypothermia situation as long as possible, the body shuts down blood to non-essential parts of the body. This list of “non-essentials” seems reasonable: arms, legs . . . WHAT?!? . . . the head? That’s right; the body considers the head a non-essential part!!

We also come to a parting of the ways with our bodies when it comes to how the body handles things when it thinks we are in danger of starving. Among the many responses the body has to this situation, two are of particular interest.

1) The body adapts to the lower number of available calories by lowering the metabolism. This way, it can conserve its inventory of fat.

2) The body knows that muscle is “high maintenance.” Muscle consumes calories even if we’re just relaxing on the couch. So the body remedies this problem by reducing our muscle mass – it literally “eats” it!

The body seems to have converted the fast weight loss program into a fat conservation program. The only opposition to the body’s thrifty attitude about fat was its muscle mass . . . which has now been “eaten” into submission.

Truth be known, the body transformed itself into a fat champion . . . defending the rights of fat cells everywhere.

Obviously what we’ve learned here is to approach calorie reduction in a more gradual manner.

What are some factors to look for in a diet that doesn’t trigger the body’s defense mechanisms?

Here are the least number of features an effective diet should have:

1. Non-aggressive calorie reduction: don’t cut your calories by more than 20%.

2. A strength training component to increase muscle mass.

3. Some aerobic workouts to increase the body’s Basal Metabolic Rate.

Remember, if the diet you are considering doesn’t have these components, you can add them yourself.

What Dental Services fall under General Dentistry?

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008
by Amy Nutt

General dentistry is the process of diagnosing and fixing the problems occurring with your teeth and gums that need attention because they are currently causing you physical pain or discomfort or will, in the future, possibly cause you pain or discomfort.

Preventative maintenance is also a big part of keeping your oral health, and thereby one of the more important parts of general dentistry. Here are some of the most common services associated with general dentistry:

Fixing Cavities

Several things can lead to tooth decay and the development of cavities – diets heavy in sugars and junk food, coupled with less than perfect oral hygiene are usually the main components. Cavities will cause pain in and around the affected tooth and if they go untreated they can lead to a host of other problems, including infection that may need antibiotic treatment.

General dentistry can fix most cavities in a relatively quick and painless manner with the help of a local anesthetic. A dentist will use a variety of picks and a dentist’s drill to remove all of the rotted material from the affected tooth and then fill the tooth back up with the appropriate filler. Teeth can be filled with a metallic filling or a tooth-colored bonding material; while both are strong, resilient and capable of making the repair; the tooth colored bonding will certainly result in a more attractive smile.

Sensitive Teeth

Sensitivity in the teeth can be the result of any number of different issues – an exposed nerve or cavities or excessively worn enamel – but whatever the cause of the problem, general dentistry will most likely be able to remedy the issue as well as help keep it from becoming a recurring problem.

Chipped and Broken Teeth

A chipped tooth is a common problem among children, teens and active adults. Chipped teeth can be an almost constant source of pain from the exposure of live nerve endings, not to mention that they almost always hurt the appearance of the patients smile. In the case of a back tooth being broken or chipped a dentist will sometimes be able to repair the problem in the same fashion as he would a cavity. A shot of a local anesthetic along with some minor dentist’s drill work and many small chips can be filled with the tooth colored bonding that repairs cavities.

In the event that the chip is more severe a dentist will be able to fit the chipped tooth for a temporary cap to alleviate the discomfort and improve the patient’s appearance while the mold for a permanent cap is created.

Cleaning and Maintenance

This is, quite possibly, the most important part of everything that falls under the umbrella of general dentistry. Regular visits to your dentist (at least twice annually) for a professional cleaning, x-rays if necessary, and an all around check-up can help to prevent any of the aforementioned problems. Regular check-ups can catch any developing problem in it’s early stages so the dentist can remedy it before it becomes a big issue; and it’s very likely that your twice annual visits to the dentist, coupled with the advice the dentist will give you on maintaining and practicing good oral hygiene, will be enough to keep you from developing almost any problems at all.

Your dentist has the ability to undo or repair many of the problems caused by a lapse in good oral hygiene, minor or even major accidents in which some teeth become damaged. He or she will also be able to educate you on the best course of care to prevent some of those problems from happening in the future.

Improve Acne with Low Glycemic Food.

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008
by Dr. Phil Hariram

When my son played Ice Hockey as a teenager, he went away on weekends for back to back games. He always returned very spotty. When he was at home, his diet was dictated by us and was very good but when away he ate lots of junk food high in carbohydrate.

I always suspected that there is a strong relationship between diet and acne. A recent study suggested just that. Acne is a common skin lesion affecting people of all ages: 79 to 95% of adolescents have acne, 40 to 54% aged 25 and older, 12% women and 3% men in middle age.

Although there is no clear cause of acne, Epidemiological Studies suggests that non-Western countries have less acne and there is a strong suspicion that low carbohydrate consumption is an important factor. In individuals with high carbohydrate intake, the Insulin level is high (Hyperinsulinemia). Experts are convinced that high Insulin levels play an important part in acne because of its association with androgenic hormone and growth factor.

Dr. Robyn. N. Smith and colleagues, in a 12 week study using 43 male adults with acne aged between 15 and 24 used randomised low glycemic load diet and a control diet rich in carbohydrate dense foods with no consideration to the glycemic index. A low glycemic load diet has 25% energy from protein and 45% from low glycemic index carbohydrates. The study was carried out at the RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. Published in the July issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, the results showed significant reduction of acne in the low glycemic diet compared to the control diet rich in carbohydrates.

Although this is the first randomised study to look at the effect of low glycemic foods on acne, I suspect there are a few more in the pipeline.

Dr Smith and his colleagues said, “Although we could not isolate the effect of the low glycemic load diet from that of weight loss, the findings support the hypothesis of a relationship between acne and high insulin levels and acne.”

Food with low glycemic Index are rich in complex carbohydrates. As a result, they release glucose very slowly into the blood steam. If sugar is released slowly into the blood, the Insulin demand is less. Insulin controls circulating blood sugar and affects growth and sex hormones.

To find out the Glycemic Index of food, the blood sugar level is monitored after eating that food. HGI(High Glycemic Index): 70+ MGI (Medium Glycemic Index: 56 to 69. LGI (Low Glycemic Index): 55 and lower.

Low GI Foods. All-bran (UK) 30 Oat bran 50 Rolled Oats 51 Whole Wheat 49 Special K (UK) 54 Natural Muesli 40 Porridge 58 Soya and Linseed 36 Wholegrain Pumpernickel 46 Heavy Mixed Grain 45 Frozen Green Peas 39 Frozen Sweet Corn 47 Tomatoes 15 Raw Carrots 16 Broccoli 10 Boiled Carrots 41 Cauliflower 15 Cabbage 10 Mushrooms 10 Lettuce 10 Green Beans 15 Red Peppers 10 Onions 10 Chillies 10

HGI (High Glycemic Index) Foods. Pretzels 83 Rice Cakes 87 Glutinous Rice 86 Short Grain White Rice 83 Tapioca 70 Scones 92 Fresh Mashed Potatoes 73 French Fries 75 Donuts 76 Instant Mashed Potatoes 80 Watermelon 80 Dates 103 Instant White Rice 87

So Reject white bread, burgers, and French fries and eat more beans and cereals to keep those zits away or under your control.

Cures For Snoring-How Do You Know What Is The Best

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008
by Doug Taylor

Searching for the best cures for snoring is an impossible mission for a lot of people. Discovering the best treatment for snoring is one thing that a lot of people have spent a lot of time searching for. Snoring could create numerous problems with your relationship and the way you function in the daytime. It is necessary for you to have a cure for snoring that will do the job for you.

Many cures have been attempted. The cures for snoring must involve seeing a doctor first. It’s very critical to find the cause of snoring before trying to cure it. There might be a serious medical issue responsible for the snoring, and if you don’t have it diagnosed, you might be taking a big risk with your health.

You won’t be able to find the perfect cure for snoring if you don’t know what is causing it. The cause might come from mouth problems involving the palate. If the soft palate is the cause of snoring, you should discuss with your doctor surgery options in order to relieve the snoring problem. Enlarged tonsils or the palate can cause vibrations which produce the snoring noise, and you may be able to stop snoring problems with surgery performed by a doctor.

A snoring source could be the nasal passages are blocked, causing air to be forced through. This is an example of snoring, which may be corrected with simple surgery. Ask the doctor to figure out whether a deviated septum is what is causing the snoring and what might be done about this issue.

Not breathing periodically while asleep is a symptom of sleep apnea and must be investigated with your doctor. Ask your partner about this. Your partner certainly hears when you are snoring and may have even noticed that at times you make no noise at all–you have stopped breathing. Sleep apnea may also contribute to the snoring your partner is complaining about.

Sleep apnea is a condition that causes a person to periodically cease breathing during the night. Sleep apnea causes snoring because the air has to force its way out the air passages. To determine if you have sleep apnea, you will need to go to a sleep study lab and be tested. If you have sleep apnea, wearing a air delivery system like the CPAP mask to sleep is your best cure for snoring.

If you’re trying to find the best cures for snoring, you first must figure out what type of snoring you have. Not only is it bothersome, but also can sometimes be a medical issue. Based on a review of your condition by a doctor, he or she can recommend appropriate treatment.

The Rice Diet! Want To Lose Weight In 10 Days? CLICK HERE!

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008
by Jessica A. Andersen

The name the rice diet makes the diet sound like another gimmick. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Rice diet weight loss program developed at Duke University. Dieters using the plan have had great success.

The Rice Diet is a medically supervised plan. The diet can be followed for as little as two weeks depending on the needs of the participant. The program requires that the participants live in the facility for the duration of the program.

The rice diet was created over 80 years ago. The physician that created the diet was curious to see if certain that diseases would be affected by what we consume. The doctor was hoping to find that by altering your diet, the progression of certain diseases like diabetes could be stopped or reversed.

Of course Rice is the main staple ingredient in this diet. the good doctor noticed that people eat rice every day had a much less frequent occurrence of hypertension, stroke, and diabetes. in asia, for example, where Rice is eaten in almost every meal these diseases are hardly ever seen.

The dieters also eat lots of fruit, vegetables, fish, and rice. The food choices are specific and limited, which leads to rapid weight loss. Portion sizes also control. Participants learn how to keep them and learn normal serving sizes. In our country, serving sizes have expanded beyond what an ordinary person should consume.

Fat and salt consumption are restricted. Salt is especially avoided by patients with high blood pressure. The often causes problems for people who are addicted salt. Unfortunately, many people are unaware that using a lot of salt leads to bloating and fluid retention. dieters are taught how to season two with spices other than salt. Fat is kept at a minimum in order for the body to use its own fat stores as fuel.

Patients have access to classes that teach all about food and how to eat properly for optimal health. Support is available for those who need help during their stay and how to manage after the program is over. Since the program is supervised, the health of the patient is watched for any major problems.

The rice diet is extremely expensive. Participating in the program for even the minimal period of time can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars.

Once participants finish the diet they do enjoy access to support resources. This support guarantees that they continue to see weight loss or weight maintenance while at home. The program is also available online.
